Blue Star Banner

The Blue Star Banner is a very important banner displayed by Americans with a family member who is active duty. The Blue Star Banner was originally displayed starting in World War I and was used as a symbol to recognize family that was away in service of their country. The blue stars, amidst the white field, represent each member of the family that is in active duty. See our Blue Star Banner @ http://www.cvsflags.com/bluestar.cfm

The Pledge of Allegiance is a vow to our Flag & Country.

Written by Francis Bellamy in 1892, the Pledge of Allegiance should be recited while facing our Flag with right hand over your heart. Recite our Pledge & remember the sacrifices of those before us. “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one nation under God; indivisible; with Liberty and Justice for all.”

However, U.S. Flag code TITLE 4 > CHAPTER 1 > Sec. 8(k): "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"

How "Old Glory" got her name

"Old Glory" is rich with our Nation’s history & pride. Capt. Driver, a 19th century American Sea Captain, was given a 10’x17’ flag by his mother to fly from the mast of the “Charles Doggett”. First time it was unfurled Capt. Driver exclaimed “Old Glory” as his ship left for the trip around the world. So do “Old Glory” proud and fly her high. CVSFlags.com has a wide variety of US flags to choose from, so order today.
